Through our conversations with our business partners, accompanied by our desktop research, we discovered a number of issues that often hinder the progression of artisan and crafters to continue developing their skills and/or applying them to the marketplace. A number of pain points were identified from the lack of skills to market the products to people who appreciate their craftsmanship to the minimal ability to adapt the style of products that would be appetising for the target market. Most of the time, the root cause points down to lack of access to education and fundings.
We are attempting to address the specific issue through three main components that will make up our Kisaku Give Back program:
MicroEduLoan – The educational micro fund will be provided for education purposes on which use will be closely monitored and regulated. One year upon completion of the program, the students are then expected to fully repay the fund. We will be also supporting the journey with a one-to-one mentoring program
Mentoring Program – The mentoring program will involve biweekly one hour chat between students and mentors
Industry Companion – A representatives from related industry will ideally accompany the student throughout his/her journey, ensuring increased accountability and a preview of the future ahead.
